any graphic audio fans out there?
I am currently listen to the deathlands series and also havae read outlanders. I also love the executioner and mac bolan. I know it doens't sound very girly, but my boyfriend always listens to it and I just got sucked in.
Do you mean audiodrama? I love audiodrama, I love the Leviathan Chronicles, and the 7th son series by J.C. hutchins.
graphic audio is a company that puts out books which have been dramatized.
you can go to www.graphicaudio.net to check it out.
II love the leviathan chronicles as well although I stopped following that a while back.
I love the deathland series, and a similar one called the survivalist. I'm still trying to find more of the survivalist in graphic audio, I only have the first episode. Also, rogue angel is ok, though a little far fetched. Haven't heard any others, would love some suggestions.
The Survivalist has 27 books.
I'm going to start the Rogue Angel Series and see how far I get with it. My issue with Graphic Audio content is that most of their stuff is from the SF genre. But to each their own I suppose.
They've broadened their selection considerably in the last few years. They still generally cater towards the actiony genre, but their content is a bit more diverse these days. it's certainly a unique experience, and one which combines audio drama with audio book for a unique experience which I for one have never encountered to this degree. Personally I'm a huge deathstalker fan. I also enjoy the Outlanders and Rogue Angel series. Elantris and Warbreaker are something unique in the Fanatasy genre, while the Demon Wars Saga is hard fantasy which is very well produced. It's definately a worth-while company to check out. I will add that their customer service is awesome.
my favorite graphic audio series.
Outlanders.
Deathlands.
doomsday warrior.
Seems like the "survivalist" serieses are (or at least were) some of their most popular. I definately loved Outlanders. its blend of post-apokalyptic and historical/cultural fact, myth and fiction created a very interesting world.
Doomsday Warrior was alright too, though I found Rok to be a little .... too stereotypically macho.
Still though, I'm glad to see people who have actually heard of this company other than me.
yeah outlanders is really good. Even though its a siqual to deathlands, its a lot more science fiction than deathlands.
Although, I don't like how some titles are longer than others. I think for shorter titles, they should decrease the price.
That's one thing Graphicaudio hasn't gotten around to doing yet. A six hour book is the same price as a three hour book. it's really rather frustrating, moreso now since they increased their MP3 price. it used to be 9:99 per MP3 title. They try really hard now to keep each release no more than six hours. Another thing I'm not happy with. Overall though their quality and prices are still a cut above a lot of other reading medeums. They also don't abridge anythingaside from esthetic things which can be emphisized with audio (such as the opening of a door, or a sound effect)
i'm in love with the deathstalker series. it had me hooked and i could listen t it over and over again. i just wish the first 3 books were in good quallity.
If you go to www.defianceaudio.net (or maybe it's .com, the first three books are there. They aren't quite up to par with the graphicaudio stuff, but they're stillpretty darn well done for the obviously limited budget they had to work with. Also, if you don't already know there are three short stories that serve as a prequel to the deathstalker series. THey are called Ghostworld (which deals with John Silence, Karrian and the Ashrai), Mistworld (which deals with the Esper Plague carrier Typhoid Mary) and Hellworld (which for the life of me I can't recall what it was about). They aren't in any audio format that I'm aware of, but I do have HTML etexts of them.
I honestly remember seeing in the older books, some titles were eight, even nine hours long!
I remember someone telling me they made sure to buy the really long ones since they think thier getting more out of what their paying.
These days a lot of their books come in two or three "parts" which means some are twelve to eighteen hours long. Depends on the books. Some of their older books were seven to eight hours. The first Outlanders was 9. It all depends. These days they try to keep their "parts" around six hours. That varies though
there were books that precede the deathstalker series? omg! i must go in search of them now! thanks, shaman. oh yes, and as for the original topic, graphic audio does a very great job with what they do. i haven't been able to read any other book besides the deathstalker books because the books are too good, and the audio just makes it sooo much better!
but you have to pay separately for each of the parts.
It sucks since you obviously can't just leave it the way it is so your forced to buy the other parts that go with it.
True. But given how expensive most audio books are, it's still cheeper. The most you'll pay for a full Graphicaudio novel is 39 dollars. Given how much effort goes into producing one of these books, it's not unreasonable.
crap. i meant, thanks, guardian.
and i wouldn't hesitate to buy anything from Graphic Audio. I think the prices are reasonable.
